The Human Touch: Security Guard Services

As much as technology can help, no piece of technology is even close to simulating the power and creativity of the human mind. It’s hard to create a piece of technology that can even handle verbal language, let alone body language. What technology does well is augment human capabilities and fill in for our gaps. When it comes to security, the best bet is still security guard services, cameras can help some, so can a lot of technological gadgetry, but if it’s something truly valuable, you need actual people watching it. Los Angeles may not be in Silicon Valley, but it is still a very high tech city, despite that more and more people are discovering the inadequacies of relying on purely technological means.

Los Angeles is an interesting example because of the connection with Hollywood and the movie industry. Hollywood, when it goes through a period of making heist movies or spy movies loves to focus on the high tech means of defense. Some of this is purely for storytelling, it’s easy to make a character sympathetic if all they break is safes, but if they break a security guard’s head it’s hard for the audience to love them. However, most of the best security relies heavily on the introduction of high tech into actual security guard services. People can be taught to make value judgments and decide if something’s worth acting on based on a wide array of variables. Computerized systems tend to have only one or two variables they rely on, such as a broken infrared beam, or a noise setting off a noise detector. People can pick up things the computer would miss.

Technology is not worthless for security. It can be very useful when used properly. It allows fewer guards to see and hear more. However, real security still needs real security guard services. When combined properly, technology will allow a single guard in a room to coordinate a large number of people with clarity and precision, and allow an eye into areas that are hard to patrol or considered lower risk. If something goes wrong, and the security guard services provided are from a larger company they might even be able to call in back up as well as the police. Over the long run, technology is cheaper, that’s why small stores will take the risk at night and run on just motion detectors and cameras. However, if you compare how often those get broken into as compared to places in Los Angeles with real security guard services, you’ll see the difference between the two approaches.
